Arsht-Cannon Fund

  • March 15, 2020

The Arsht-Cannon Fund is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all Delawareans as well as to increasing educational opportunities and access to healthcare for Hispanic families.

Our mission is to improve quality of life in Delaware by addressing key issues, needs and opportunities in our diverse communities. Our current collaborations and non-profit program funding maintain a focus on the integration and well-being of Hispanic Delawareans. Funding is focused on educational opportunities,  and youth programs that develop future leaders.

The Fund's priorities include:

Educational Opportunities: Changing Life Trajectories for Latino Families

The Fund supports programs that help Spanish-dominant immigrant families learn to read and write in their native language as well as to communicate in English. Support is provided to community and school programs help Latino families integrate and reach academic and career goals.

The focus is on statewide nonprofit organizations that work to:

  • educate Spanish-dominant Immigrants to gain critical language, parenting, academic, and career skills; and,
  • assist Latino children and youth (K-12) to achieve trajectory-changing personal growth, social emotional competence, and academic success.

Access to Healthcare: Creating Healthier Families and Communities

The Fund supports programs that work to increase bilingual, culturally-relevant care (screening, diagnosis, education, and treatment) for Latinos affected by chronic stress, mental or behavioral disorders, or other major health common conditions that reduce the quality and length of life.

Advocacy: Promoting Academic Success and Health Equity

The Fund supports nonprofit organizations that work to increase community understanding of the education and health issues of Delaware’s Latino families. These partnerships promote equity resulting in improved academic success and health by engaging Latino students, their parents, education and health professionals, and community organizations to learn and take actions that shape important policies.

Funding is not available for capital expenses or capital campaigns.
