American Mathematical Society Accepting Applications for Youth Summer Programs

  • December 15, 2018

The American Mathematical Society is dedicated to advancing research and connecting the global mathematical community through its publications, meetings and conferences, MathSciNet, professional services, advocacy, and awareness programs.

To advance this mission, the society's AMS Epsilon Fund Grants for Young Scholars Programs awards grants of up to $15,000 in support of summer mathematics programs for mathematically talented high school students. Grant support is offered to existing programs that are most successful in nourishing mathematically talented youth.

Programs should have been in existence for at least a year, and preferably more. Programs can focus on problem solving or mathematical research in any area of mathematics. Successful programs tend to have the following characteristics: are run over a period of multiple weeks in the summer, bring in at least twenty high school students with mathematical talent, and generally are directed by mathematicians.

Funding is for a year, and it is expected that half the funds will be used for student scholarships and half for program expenses. Indirect costs are not eligible for grant support.
