Webinar: Opportunity Starts at Home: Meeting Affordable Housing Needs Through Cross-Sector Partnerships

  • April 12, 2019
  • 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
  • Webinar

Housing affordability is central to national priorities, like health care, food security, education, and more. Yet over 12 million households in the U.S. spend more than half of their incomes on rent or have no home at all, and this is compounded by continued threats to federal housing assistance and the funding and oversight necessary to produce, protect, and preserve quality, affordable housing. Proven solutions to ending homelessness and housing instability exist – what’s missing is the political will to provide resources that will put these solutions into practice in communities across the nation.

Join this webinar to learn about Opportunity Starts at Home, a long-term, multi-sector campaign to meet the rental housing needs of the nation’s low-income population. Mike Koprowski and Chantelle Wilkinson from the National Low Income Housing Coalition will share how they’ve coalesced several sectors around a shared theory of action and how racial equity and prevention are a part of this work.

Jeanne Fekade-Sellassie from Funders for Housing and Opportunity (FHO) and Susan Thomas from the Melville Charitable Trust will share how funders are supporting this work through FHO and other ways philanthropy can engage in this cross-sector work.

Speakers:

Mike Koprowski, National Campaign Director, National Low Income Housing Coalition

Chantelle Wilkinson, National Campaign Coordinator, National Low Income Housing Coalition
