2019 Seed Grant for Research on Gambling Disorder, National Center for Responsible Gaming

ncrg-logo.gifThe National Center for Responsible Gaming offers Seed Grants in support of a variety of research activities, exploring the etiology, prevention and treatment of gambling disorder:

  • Pilot and feasibility studies
  • Secondary analysis of existing data
  • Small, self-contained research projects
  • Development of research methodology
  • Development of new research technology

The National Center for Responsible Gaming (NCRG) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that has served as the only national, private funder of scientific research on gambling disorders in the United States since 1996. (For a list of grants supported by the NCRG since 1996, go to NCRG website.  The NCRG awards grants on a competitive basis under the leadership of the Scientific Advisory Board. Composed of leading, independent scientists with expertise in addiction and related topics, the Scientific Advisory Board plays a vital role by ensuring the NCRG follows rigorous standards in awarding grants for only the highest quality research proposals. 

Available Funding

Applicants may request up to $30,000 in direct costs plus 15 percent Facilities and Administration costs for a period not to exceed 12 months. The Principal Investigator may receive only one Seed Grant per cycle.

The 2019 call for proposals is for research with direct implications for gambling policy. Please go to NRCG website for the full announcement. Please note that proposals based on topics other than policy are welcome.

Eligible Applicants

Domestic or international, public or private, non-profit or for-profit organizations are eligible to apply for NCRG funding. The Principal Investigator must have a PhD, MD, or other terminal degree. The NCRG encourages early career investigators to apply for a Seed Grant.
