Image result for caplan foundation logoThe Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood supports nonprofit organizations throughout the United States that offer programs that will significantly enhance the development, health, safety, education, or quality of life of children from infancy through seven years of age.

The Foundation’s areas of interest include the following:

  • The Early Childhood Welfare category supports projects that seek to perfect child rearing practices and to identify models that can provide creative, caring environments in which all young children thrive.
  • The Early Childhood Education and Play category focuses on improving the quality of both early childhood teaching and learning through the development of innovative curricula and research-based pedagogical standards, as well as the design of imaginative play materials and learning environments.
  • The Parenting Education category promotes programs that teach parents about developmental psychology, cultural child rearing differences, and health, prenatal care, and diet, as well as programs that provide support to parents.

The Foundation’s goal is to serve as an incubator for new, innovative projects and research that will have a nationwide impact. In that regard, the Foundation does not provide grants for the revision or implementation of existing programs or research, or for capital equipment, such as playgrounds. In addition, programs located outside the U.S. are not funded.

The upcoming deadline for letters of inquiry is January 31, 2019.
