Brady Education Foundation

  • April 01, 2020

Brady Education FoundationThe Brady Education Foundation seeks to close the achievement/opportunity gap for children at risk for poor school outcomes due to environmental factors associated with living in poverty. Support is provided throughout the U.S.

The Foundation pursues its mission by promoting collaboration between researchers and educators via the funding of program development and program evaluations in education. The Foundation is currently focused on the evaluation of programs that are consistent with a strength-based approach and show promise of being feasible, effective, and sustainable.

Existing Program Evaluation

Grants are provided to evaluate the effectiveness of programs designed to promote positive cognitive and achievement outcomes for children (birth through 18 years) from underserved groups and low-resourced communities.

Priority is given to projects that:

  • represent strong collaborative relationships between researchers and practitioners, and other community stakeholders as appropriate, and where the community/population being studied is represented in the project's leadership team;
  • consider the specific and unique assets and needs of children from underserved populations and low-resourced communities (e.g., minority ethnic groups, low-income communities); and,
  • increase understanding of what works best for children from diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds (e.g., African American, Latino, Native American).

Grants are not provided to/for:

  • scholarships;
  • capital projects;
  • projects outside of the United States;
  • evaluations conducted by for-profit organizations or the development of programs intended to become for-profit entities;
  • program development and evaluation for children at risk for poor cognitive and academic outcomes due to medical conditions (including developmental delays or disabilities associated with biological causes) or substance abuse;
  • scaling-up programs already found to be effective; or,
  • continuing education for providers.

Note: The Foundation caps indirect costs for both primary institutions and subcontracts at 10% of the direct costs of the project.
