  • January 01, 2021

The Calamus FoundationThe Calamus Foundation primarily provides support to nonprofit organizations in the United States. (There are no geographical limits for grant applicants, but if a grant is requested for international programs, the applicant must be a U.S. nonprofit organization.)

The focus is on supporting programs and activities in the following areas:

  • care and support services to individuals with HIV/AIDS; and,
  • services to the LGBT community that promote and support its formation, growth, identity, general well-being, and social and legal rights.

Special focus is given to programs that support underserved LGBT populations.

Types of support include:

  • new and ongoing programs and projects;
  • general operational and administrative support; and,
  • capital and building campaigns.

No grants are made for purposes of influencing legislation or elections or for any other type of activity that would jeopardize the Foundation's tax-exempt status. In addition, no grant may benefit the individual requesting it.

The Foundation does not consider uninvited proposals. Potential grantseekers who believe that their current proposed programs or activities are consistent with the purposes of the Foundation should submit the online introductory information form available on the Foundation's website.
