Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust

DAV Charitable Service TrustThe Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust is dedicated to one purpose: empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity.

The Trust provides grants to nonprofit organizations located in the United States that offer programs assisting America's sick and injured veterans and their families.

The Trust supports:

  • programs ensuring quality healthcare for veterans; 
  • assistance to veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), substance abuse issues, and more; 
  • programs enhancing research and mobility for veterans with amputations, spinal cord injuries, and more; and, 
  • initiatives for evaluating and addressing the needs of veterans from each era of conflict.

Programs supported by the Trust typically provide the following:

  • food, shelter, and other necessary items to homeless or at-risk veterans;
  • mobility items or assistance specific to veterans with blindness or vision loss, hearing loss, or amputations;
  • therapeutic activities for veterans or their families;
  • physical and psychological rehabilitation projects;
  • education, training, and career readiness; and,
  • other forms of assistance as needed.

Grants are generally not awarded to/for:

  • individuals;
  • goodwill advertising;
  • souvenir journals;
  • dinner programs;
  • political causes, candidates, organizations, or campaigns;
  • pilots or newly established initiatives;
  • endowments; or,
  • capital campaigns.

The DAV Charitable Service Trust accepts grant application submissions during four cycles within the calendar year. Application cycles will open and close on the first and last business days of January, April, July and October.
