Dr. Scholl Foundation

  • March 01, 2020

The Dr. Scholl Foundation is dedicated to providing financial assistance to organizations committed to improving the world.

The Foundation supports a wide variety of nonprofit organizations, primarily in the U.S. A large percentage of annual grants are made to organizations in Illinois. The Foundation also provides support to organizations outside the U.S. when directors have knowledge of the applicant.

Grants requests are considered in the following areas:

  • education;
  • social services;
  • healthcare;
  • civic and cultural issues; and,
  • the environment.

The general categories above are not intended to limit the interest of the Foundation from considering other worthwhile projects.

Publicly-supported state, local, and federal government organizations (i.e. public schools and municipalities) are rarely considered for grants. Grants are rarely made to endowments or capital campaigns.

The Foundation does not consider the following for funding:

  • U.S. organizations that do not have a valid IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter;
  • political organizations, action committees, or individual campaigns whose primary purpose is to influence legislation;
  • foundations that are themselves grantmaking bodies;
  • grants to individuals;
  • grants for loans, operating deficit reduction, the liquidation of a debt, or general support;
  • event sponsorship, including the purchase of tables, tickets, or advertisements; and,
  • more than one request from the same organization in the same year.
