The Gretchen Swanson Center for Nutrition is an independent research institution providing scientific expertise, partnership, and resources to improve diet and physical activity behaviors among youth and their families to help grow a healthier next generation.
The Center's Rooted in Evidence program is an opportunity for nonprofit food banks and their partners to enhance measurement and evaluation related to their programming. Funding will also be provided for innovative and dynamic programming to improve the health and dietary quality of emergency food recipients.
Rooted in Evidence is intended to provide visibility and measurable impact of programs that create lasting change within the food insecurity landscape. By providing food banks with the tools necessary to measure impact of their programs while simultaneously building capacity for measurement and evaluation, programs will be enhanced in order to maximize time, talent, and resources to better benefit the communities served.
Grants of up to $20,000 will be available for up to five organizations. In addition, selected grantees will receive an evaluation designed and facilitated by the Center in collaboration with grantee staff and volunteers, an added benefit worth approximately $25,000 per grant.
Note: Food pantries are encouraged to collaborate on proposals, but the primary applicant must be a food bank organization.
