Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation

Image result for josiah macy jr foundation logoThe Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation is dedicated to improving the health of the public by advancing the education and training of health professionals.

The Foundation's grantmaking is focused on projects that:

  • demonstrate or encourage interprofessional education and teamwork among healthcare professionals;
  • provide new curriculum content for health professional education, including patient safety, quality improvement, systems performance, and professionalism;
  • develop new models for clinical education, including graduate medical education reform;
  • improve education for the care of underserved populations, with an emphasis on primary care; and,
  • increase faculty skills in health professions education, with a special emphasis on the career development of underrepresented minorities.

Grants are made through the following programs:

  • Board Grants range from one to three years in duration; and,
  • President's Grants are one year or less in duration and range up to $35,000.

Grants are not provided to/for:

  • individuals;
  • general support;
  • endowments:
  • equipment:
  • construction or renovation projects:
  • capital campaigns; or,
  • activities conducted outside the United States and its territories.

Note: The Foundation also offers the Macy Faculty Scholars program, which aims to identify and nurture the careers of educational innovators in medicine and nursing. Visit the website for more information.
