The Evelyn F. McKnight Brain Research Foundation

The Evelyn F. McKnight Brain Research Foundation provides support to nonprofit organizations, research institutions, and colleges and universities involved in scientific research into the understanding and alleviation of age-related memory loss.

The Foundation's focus is on:

  • innovative and efficient approaches to fundamental medical research of the brain on the mechanisms underlying the formation, storage, and retrieval of memories;
     
  • the impairment of these processes associated with aging; and,
     
  • the development of therapeutic strategies for the prevention or alleviation of these impairments in humans, intended principally for clinical application.

The Foundation supports seed grants to initiate promising new projects for medical research. Collaborative efforts between individual research scientists of different institutions and organizations are encouraged.

Note: The research emphasis of the Foundation is on non-Alzheimer memory loss associated with the aging process.

The Foundation does not offer support to/for:

  • bricks and mortar;
  • operating, maintenance, or indirect overhead costs;
  • equipment, including computers;
  • endowments;
  • conference and administrative expenses; and,
  • group travel or honoraria for distinguished guests.
