Seaver Institute

  • April 01, 2020

The Seaver Institute provides seed money for projects that are on the cutting edge of science and the arts. The Institute seeks to identify and support truly pioneering projects that have the potential to significantly alter the direction of their fields. The intention is to stimulate creativity and provide the freedom that traditional funding does not allow. Although most funded projects are initiated by the Institute, innovative proposals may be considered.

Types of support include:

  • seed money;
  • project support; and,
  • research.

Funding is not provided for:

  • endowments;
  • scholarships;
  • construction;
  • ongoing projects; or,
  • deficit grants.

Note: Before applying, it is important to request a copy of the Institute's informational brochure/annual report in order to get a clear idea of the type of projects that are supported.

Application Procedure:

The first step in the application process is to submit a letter of inquiry (two to three pages) summarizing the goals of the project, the qualifications of the organization and of the principal investigator or applicant, and a preliminary budget. If the project is of interest to the Institute, a detailed proposal will be requested.
