La Colectiva is offering an excellent opportunity for the right person to succeed in changing the future of southern Delaware’s Latino families and the organizations that work to serve them. We are searching for a part-time (24-30 hours/week) director who can manage a flexible work schedule. The hourly wage ranges from $22.00 to $30.00/hour - commensurate with preparation and experience. It is anticipated that this position will expand to full-time in the future.

We are searching for an enthusiastic, prepared (Bachelor’s degree minimum; Master’s preferred) and experienced leader interested in building optimal working relationships among southern Delaware’s Latino families and its’ community leaders and organizations. Key attributes required include:

Fluency in Spanish and English, cultural sensitivity, and experienced in working with Latino families and community-led groups

Pro-active planner and self-reliant manager who has the experience to independently plan, manage, and complete work required for La Colectiva’s success. 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; basic social media savvy; confidence in being interviewed by the press

Experienced team-builder, facilitator, and educator who engages participants in developing trusting relationships, focused partnerships and sustainable approaches that address identified needs and opportunities.

Previous success in developing research-based, cooperative/collaborative educational, family support, and/or resource navigation programs or services with community members, leaders and/or organizations.

La Colectiva (www.lacolectivadelaware.org) inspires, advances and facilitates the development of sustainable collaborative approaches to improve the lives of Latino families in southern Delaware. Since 2018, La Colectiva has been convening Latino community members, leaders and nonprofit groups to learn, network and collaborate for the purpose of developing strategies and programs in areas of identified opportunity- “cradle to career” education, family literacy and support, and resource navigation. Understanding, trust, engagement, and enthusiasm among the growing number of La Colectiva Network members continue to surge. Contributing to our work, the 2019 study, Perspectives on the Latino Population in Sussex County, DE (www.delcf.org/sussex-latinos), describes the community growth and diversity as well as unique contributions of Latinos and the challenges they face.

With a solid foundation in place, La Colectiva is at a pivotal point where the right leader is needed to build grassroots solutions that contribute to an empowered, trusting and connected Latino community and a stronger Delaware.
