Woodlawn Trustees: Vice President & CFO

Woodlawn Trustees, Inc. | LinkedInWoodlawn Trustees is seeking a strong finance leader who is mission-driven, committed to William Bancroft’s vision and brings the financial acumen required to grow a complex, multi-dimensional real estate organization. The CFO will be a key partner with the CEO and the highly engaged Boards of Directors (that includes Bancroft family members). Previous experience in and knowledge of the real estate sector would be preferred and experience with Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) is a plus.

The VP & CFO’s specific responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that sound financial management practices and accountability are maintained across the organization, including ensuring that all of the complex local, state, and national funding and regulatory guidelines related to real estate and LIHTC are effectively implemented and monitored
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements and cash flow management
  • Develop and monitor budgets
  • Ensure all financial operations comply with federal, state and city laws and regulations
  • Supervise finance organization, team of three including controller and two clerks, to ensure smooth day-to-day transactions
  • Ensure appropriate accounting control over the organization’s investment funds including monitoring the investment portfolio and act as direct liaison with Investment Advisors as directed by the Investment Committee
  • Develop and enhance relationship with key stakeholders including development partners and federal/state/city agencies on all financial matters
  • Provide timely financial analysis of investment opportunities and scenarios

The ideal candidate will be a strategic partner to the CEO, conceptualizing and analyzing problems and solutions in a proactive, constructive, creative manner that results in improved performance across the organization. In addition, they will drive change while delivering on current initiatives. The person will be passionate about Woodlawn’s mission and share a commitment to its Quaker roots and serving as a good community partner. The ideal candidate will have proven strategic leadership and management skills and experience working with a Board of Directors.

In addition to the above, the VP & CFO will possess the following attributes and competencies:

  • A minimum of eight years of experience in a senior management role, with experience as a Director of Finance or CFO required; nonprofit, real estate and LITHC experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of corporate and/or nonprofit governance with significant experience interfacing with governing boards
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Effective communication, presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Team-building skills with a collaborative management style
  • A genuine interest in our mission
  • Bachelor degree, with an MBA or masters in accounting/finance preferred
