Geriatric Research Grant

Home | Foundation for Physical Therapy ResearchGrant to a USA individual or group of researchers affiliated with qualifying institutions for studies related to physical therapy implementation for elderly patients. Preference is given to protecting at-risk and marginalized populations. Grant proposals should seek to directly promote the health, safety, and overall well-being of all older adults.

The Geriatric Research Grant is to be awarded for research in methods to facilitate the aging-in-place for older adults in a supportive community setting utilizing novel and innovative approaches for access to physical therapist services and care. Proposals should reflect the current scientific evidence as well as the Research Agenda of the American Physical Therapy Association.

The grant is to be awarded to an Emerging Investigator for research focused on the development of feasible, effective, and sustainable interventions to be implemented in older adults (> 75 years of age or 65-70 if justified) with multiple, chronic health conditions to address issues with mobility.

Funds may be requested to meet any type of expense reasonably associated with the research project, including salaries and fringe benefits, purchase or rental of equipment, supplies, travel, publication costs, printing or postage, and special services such as computer time, photographic services, and secretarial or research assistant support.
