Accounting Assistant, Delaware Community Foundation

 The Delaware Community Foundation (DCF) seeks an energetic, resourceful and strategic professional to join our organization.  The Accounting Assistant will be an integral part of the Delaware Community Foundation.   Reporting directly to the Accountant, the Accounting Assistant will play a key role in supporting the accounting and operations across the foundation. Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide support to the Finance Department and occasionally other staff. 
  • Enter daily invoices and verify account and fund codes for accounts payable invoices. 
  • Ensure proper approvals obtained for non‐administrative expenses. 
  • Print and mail checks and record them in cash log. 
  • Enter invoices and prepare checks for Rodel. 
  • Assist with grant entry and due diligence. 
  • Upload cleared checks in accounting system on a daily basis. 
  • Reconcile credit card receipts to statements. 
  • Annual 1099 processing. 
  • Audit support. 
  • Develop proficiency in the software database used at the foundation to maintain and provide dependable data. 
  • Organize and maintain filing systems, paper and electronic; review compliance with record retention policy and record destruction policy 
  • Work with all staff members in achieving the overall mission of the organization, providing back up support and assisting with special projects, as needed. 
  • Assist, as needed, with duties including answering and directing all incoming calls, receiving and assisting all visitors in a courteous and efficient manner, and maintaining a neat front lobby. 
  • Meeting and Events:  Periodically, the community foundation hosts a variety of events including seminars, workshops, trainings, volunteer events, board meetings, public meetings, and other activities.   The Accounting Assistant shall participate with other staff in the planning, managing, and execution of these events, as directed. 
  • Any other responsibilities, as needed. 
Qualifications: Education/Experience:    
  • High School diploma or GED and four (4) years’ experience in an office setting OR 
  •  Associates degree and two (2) years’ experience in an office setting 
  •  Software experience and proficiency in the following is required:  Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, Teams


Special Qualifications and Knowledge: 

  • Must be skilled in human relations with the ability to deal with a variety of people in a pleasant, professional manner.  Must be able to exercise tact, patience, discretion, and confidentiality in communications. 
  • Must be able to organize materials, files and data, coordinate and manage many activities concurrently with an attention to detail. 
  • Must possess excellent time management skills to successfully manage deadlines.

Salary range depends on experience and education:  $36,900 to $40,500 Benefits include Health, Vision and Dental Insurance, 403B retirement, Long‐term disability, Life Insurance, Holidays, Vacation and Paid time Off
