For more than thirty-seven years, the First Nations Development Institute has been working to restore Native American control and culturally compatible stewardship of assets owned by Native American communities — be it land, human potential, cultural heritage, or natural resources — and to establish new assets for ensuring the long-term vitality of Native American communities.
To that end, First Nations is accepting applications for its new Native Language Immersion Initiative (NLII). Through the three-year program, the institute will award approximately twelve grants of up to $90,000 each to help build the capacity of and directly support Native language-immersion and culture-retention programs.
