Library of Congress: Teaching with Primary Sources Regional Program

  • December 31, 2020

Library of CongressThe Teaching with Primary Sources Program contributes to the quality of education by helping teachers use the Library of Congress's digitized primary sources to engage students, develop their critical thinking skills, and construct knowledge.

The Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) Regional program awards grants to school districts, universities, cultural institutions, library systems, and other educational organizations who wish to incorporate TPS materials and methods into their existing education and professional development programs for pre- and in-service teachers, librarians, and other K-12 educators.

Grants of up to $20,000 are provided through regional coordinators in the East, Midwest, and West.

TPS funding may be used to meet a variety of programmatic needs, including:

  • delivering online or face-to-face TPS workshops;
  • embedding TPS materials and content into broader professional development programs; and,
  • revising undergraduate or graduate course syllabi or curricula to include a TPS focus.

Grants require a matching contribution of at least 20% of the total grant awarded.
